there are nice people around :)

saturday morning...had breakfast with mum and sis at the housemen canteen in sgh. it is cheaper than Kopitiam in the hospital itself. dad's recovering well and he had his first cup of kopi-c since 17 sep 09. heehee...the nurses satisfied his craving. whatever he drinks goes into this bag since his swallow pipe is not connected to his stomach yet. so he can't hide anything. we know what he drinks... hmm. his next target will be roti prata after his pipe gets connected back with his stomach. he is really recovering well...

mum and sis stayed back to accompany him while i made my way to the station for service. 3 big guys from china approached me and asked where the blood donation centre was. they were responding to a radio broadcast for blood donors and they have been here for only 6 months! they came even though they didn't know exactly where the venue was. that is heartwarming.

after service, 2 little boys came on the train and there was just one seat next to me. they didn't fight for the seat but just shared that one seat and the elder brother rested his head against the side and got the little brother to rest his head on his shoulder because he said he wanted to sleep already. oh boy...they were so cute. will they stay this way when they get older?

was at the coffeeshop for dinner tonight and this old man, between 75 and 80 year old, was using a walking stick as he had difficulty walking. with him and holding his hand was his old wife, about the same age, who also had a little difficulty walking but was better than him. though they had a maid with them, it is nice to see that they still had each other for company. no grumpiness at all. just smiles and acceptance of each other. how many can be like this at their age?

look around and there are many nice ppl and wonderful things around us. take time to admire the flowers along the road. life is not just about ourselves. it is about everything and everyone else around us.
