busy busy busy
working at sakae is taking up most of my time now but that's ok as long as i still get to do what i love most...teaching handicrafts. i'm gonna be one step closer to my vision of doing a handicraft workshop camp. though it's a 1-day and not a 3-day workshop like i have visualised, it is still something i am excited about. it's planned for mid-dec. proposal just got approved and will be published for registration soon. ALL THE BEST TO ME AND TEAM!
i'm also going to start dance again. going to do bachata...accompanying one of my cell group members. without her interest, it will probably take me a really long time to get back to dance. i'm glad i'm just going to do it. next to catch up on will be my running. :)
sakae - i started just cleaning tables and taking orders during the first few days. then went on to do billing and now i'm in the kitchen! not food preparation of course. they have the experts doing that. i'm what they call the "runner". bringing food out from the kitchen to the customers. most difficult are the noodle bowls. so big, so heavy and so hot...haha. my hands not big enough to carry them without burning. anyway, now i can remember what the items look like and being in there and watching the kitchen staff, i've learnt something as well. enjoy most the cooked food section. temperature and timing is most important in this section. the kitchen has got to be the most exciting place in a restaurant. next learning task will be cashiering i guess.
more to update but another time. have to go get dinner now. jeremy's running a fever. pray for him ok? thank you.

what i have been ....
was just thinking through the different jobs i've done and how i have grown with them...
- sales promoter - dishwashing detergent and i didn't even know what it was called in mandarin! :(
- tutor - the kids were either too sleepy to listen or too hyper to stay in place *sigh*
- liquor promoter - good money during 7th month cos got big angpows on top of salary :)
- bank teller - told a lie to get this job just to work in bank...didn't tell them we were students on year end school holidays.
- cashier - busy busy busy but learnt to be really really careful and stay focussed on whoever i'm serving.
- ticket seller / crowd "director" - just love this job...good pay with tpt and meals provided plus get to meet all sorts of ppl.
- customs clerk - first permanent job
- despatch clerk - stock updates, order processing, etc, etc, anything to do with deliveries
- admin clerk - reports, reports and reports...the dept i was in made this job really fun. the only female in an all male environment...prob seen all sorts and got immune to their behaviours, esp when out of singapore away from families!
- customer service asst - more reports
- customer service exec - even more reports and ppl management
- cleaner - tough job...really admire the cleaners. how can they do so much in so little time!
- teacher asst - helping out at a child care centre and just luurve those kids...miss them.
- course facilitator - most satisfying to see the participants' achievement at the end of the course knowing that i have made a difference. every session is a learning experience for me though the programme may be the same because every child is different.
- f & b service crew - that's what i'm doing now for 2 weeks already and still enjoying every minute of it. tiring at first but getting used to it. teamwork is of great importance and following the process just get things going and with a system, anyone can go to any outlet and get the job done.
that is a wide range considering that i've only worked full time in one company moving from customs clerk to customer service executive. the rest are "as and when" jobs. makes life really interesting. i'm almost there with my list of "what i want to experience". left with 2 or 3 more to check out. hmmm....not too bad for this lifetime.
what's outstanding:
- tourism
- books
- dance
one more of great priority -
grandmother... haha. maybe shouldn't rush this otherwise no time to work on the rest.
with all of the above, there is only one constant passion - the opportunity to share my handicrafts with many. it's been 15 years now and this will be forever till i'm not able.
life's been tough but it has been really good. nothing beats loving what you are doing.

can we be one?
to the same destination
we
take different routes
think different thoughts
speak different words
can we still be one
in body, soul and mind
?
