the joys of teaching

i've always wanted to be a teacher. registered with MOE the moment i got my A levels...was not accepted. couldn't get into uni...so started working. thinking back, if i had been a teacher in an academic school, i wouldn't have met the sweet lady at work who taught me knitting. then i wouldn't have picked up the hobby. even if i did, i may not have had the time to start a business and started teaching handicrafts! guess what? my dream did come true. i'm still a teacher - of handicrafts. i would not have made a good academic teacher. the kids will take over the class. ;)

anyway, i never like to follow the rules when it comes to teaching. participants usually leave with what we originally started out to complete. my motto : learn the basics and create something to call your own.

the most recent in a primary school...a bracelet that looks like this. they learnt the basics and at the end of the 3rd session, none came close to the original. the result, abt 25 different designs of different colours and shapes. each a unique piece for the students to call their own. the excitement on their faces when working on it and the joy when it's completed make everything worth the while. wish i had pictures of their artpieces to show but forgot the camera....again.

will have to remember for future sessions. looking forward to more fulfilling moments.
