be open...be ready...for opportunities when they come
went for a networking session after work. stepped in and thought i was at the wrong event. felt like i've stepped into mini-china. it was mandarin everywhere. no one seemed to know what i was asking in english!
saw the signboard and confirmed i was at the right place. went to the reception desk, looked at the books they had there, asked for the price and they gave it to me in MYR! we are in singapore, why would i want to know the price in MYR?? asked for the SGD price, the lady took the calculator, pressed some numbers, put it down and started talking to her colleague...didn't tell me anything and totally ignored me.
WHAT IS THIS?? where is the MnY spirit? i didn't feel the closeness, the warmth or the friendliness. decided to go home but didn't get into the lift when it arrived. thought to myself, "what do i have to lose? since i'm here might as well stay and see how the night goes and boy am i glad i stayed. i've gained from the evening. i'm inspired and a great night of networking. there are people from china, taiwan, usa, malaysia and a few other countries i didn't remember. DC was great, Wilson was fantastic and Jannie Tay from Hour Glass was also there!
there is a decision to bring MnY back to Singapore and i can't wait to be a part of it. i want to be totally involved. i want to make a difference. the night has given me more clarity of what i have been wondering about in the last few weeks. now i'm ready to start the ball rolling.
YIPPEE! life is great, life is fun. life is full of opportunities. be open and you'll see it when it comes....ALOHA!
